While there is no shortage of mosquitos here, the fear of malaria is long past. Thought malaria is experiencing a resurgence in other parts of the world, Panama City has had no evidence of it. It is recommended that you check with a doctor before trekking into jungle areas, as light outbreaks of the disease have been noted there.
